Betrayals Lurk in the Shadows of Justice Ernie Birmingham a criminal lawyer whose practice and sanity are failing represents an international parental kidnapper who justifies his crime by his frustration at the rulings of a corrupt matrimonial judge. Ernie also represents a con man whose last chance for freedom is cooperation against his money launderer and the same judge. Ernie persuades his childhood friend now a federal agent to promote the con man’s cooperation while offering to help the agent reconcile with his wife. But the con man betrays the agent and offers Ernie a chance to share in his stolen money. The con man is murdered. Has Ernie betrayed his friend and his profession?
